It is so much fun to watch Colt change daily...you can just see the wheels turning as he tries to explore, figure things out, and learn. He entertains himself a lot these days, with or without toys. Whether it is trying to see how many foam letters will stick to his body...
Or organizing mommy and daddy's shoes, which desperately needs to be done...
Or lining up the spices (the spice basket is one of his favorite things in the pantry these days).
Although on this particular day, I did not realize that the red food coloring made its way into the spice basket. And seeing as how Colt is Houdini, this was the result...
But, after a thorough washing and a day to fade...his hands were back to normal in no time (and mommy's hands, the hardwoods, his sweatshirt...all fine).
This past week, we also had another Picasso moment. We painted star ornaments for Christmas gifts. Everything was going great!
Until...Colt decided it would be more fun to paint himself...
And Ellie...
He thought it was hilarious!
And the result...marvelous as always!
Oh my gosh...it has been such a long time since I have blogged. So sorry to all you viewers who have been anxiously awaiting a new posting (just kidding)! Anyways, a couple of weeks ago, Colt and I got to go and spend four days with my sister and her family. Houston...we had such a great time! The weekend was perfect, and Colt so enjoys visiting his cousins. Sis and I also had some "girl time" together to get some Christmas shopping done...thanks to Big T (aka Todd) for babysitting!So, a little more about the weekend...here are a few things I learned about Thatcher and Colt.
1. Thatcher should maybe take up photography...I love this picture taken from one swing to the other!
2. Maybe they shouldn't depend on a future in boogie boarding...especially on hardwoods.
3. But maybe Colt does have a future in riding a razor scooter, but only with AA (aka Aunt Ashley) as his sidekick!
On Saturday morning, Ashley, the kids, and I ran a 5k trail run to benefit one of the Woodlands local cancer foundations. The kids meaning Madison, Macey, and Thatcher...Colt was too busy moving the cones at the finish line...oops!
Now, the whole trail run thing was new for me, and I have to respect the people who do them regularly...I was too worried about breaking an ankle rather than focusing on running. The kids didn't sweat it at all...in fact, we didn't even catch Macey coming through the finish line, so I got a beautiful post-run shot.
And Maddie and Thatcher were smokin it!

And the weekend could not be complete without watching football and grilling out. I have to say that these two boys are the cutest football fans I know.
It makes me a little nervous seeing that my sister and I are both taking pictures (hence the hands in the bottom right corner) while my son looks like he wants to try hanging outside the tree house like a monkey!
So, now that the election is over, I can at least be thankful that I will not be receiving and sending as many forwards about the candidates (oh, and I was guilty of forwarding on). This election was different for me...not only was it important because of the state of our nation currently, but also because it is the nation that Colt is growing up in. And this election is going to contribute to the state of our nation when Colt is able to fit in these big shoes...
I will be honest...it makes me a little nervous. But, I have to agree with Heather when she says that while she has uncertainty, she also has hope..."Hope in something much bigger than even the most powerful leader in the free world." And while I could choose to worry for the next four years, I have decided that I am going to hope for the next four years. And while I want so badly to put a bumper sticker on my car that says "Is it 2012 yet?", I have decided that I am going to stay informed and support this great nation and the leader that has been chosen. And while I really don't have much control over the decisions that are made for this country, I am blessed that I have a husband that will commit with me to make the best decisions for our family. After all, God is ultimately in control, and if I can keep my focus there instead of the worries of the world...I can rest!
So, I was getting ready yesterday, and I usually let Colt play in the bathroom and my bedroom while I am getting ready. Only today, he wanted to play in the bath tub. Perfect! I didn't have to keep checking in on him because I knew exactly where he was.
Thankfully, the bath tub was big enough to fit his car, toys, clothes, whatever...
